Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai
In this remake of Masaki Kobayashi’s 1963 classic, down-on-his-luck samurai Hanshiro (Ebizo Ichikawa) asked permission from a wealthy prefect to be allowed to use his courtyard to commit ritual suicide. Via flashback, we learn how the warrior came to arrive at such desperate circumstances...and how he seeks vengeance for the death of a loyal friend also pushed to the edge of the abyss.
