Newcomer Katie Jarvis plays 15-year-old Mia, a latchkey kid who spends her days drinking and dancing to hip-hop in her mum Joanne's grotty flat. However, her humdrum life is thrown out of kilter with the arrival of her mother's new boyfriend - Michael Fassbender's toned security guard Connor, the actor a million miles away from Inglourious Basterds.
