Christopher Nolan completes his genre-redefining Dark Knight trilogy in suitably brooding, violent and fiercely smart style. Christian Bale returns as the titular guardian of Gotham City to clear his name and face his most evil adversary yet: Tom Hardy's fearsome orchestrator of chaos, Bane. As if that wasn't distracting enough, Batman's also being given the runaround by Gotham's slinkiest cat burglar (the purr-fect Anne Hathaway) and falling for a member of Wayne Enterprises' board (Marion Cotillard). Luckily, police Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman), gadget man Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) and trusty butler Alfred (Michael Caine) are always on the Batting side. A blockbusting spectacular that weaves in the Occupy Movement, banker bashing and the War on Terror, it's a fitting finale to the best comic book saga of all time.
