Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
In 19th century China, two lifelong friends - Snow Flower and Lily (Gianna Jun and Li Bingbing) have evolved their own secret code as a way to contend with the rigid cultural shackles imposed on women. Their hidden language takes the form of carefully inked characters placed on the folds between the spines of a silken fan. Meanwhile, in contemporary Shanghai, two similar women are finding that things aren't so different. A tender, touching story from The Joy Luck Club director Wayne Wang.
