A suave 19th century playboy (Don Ameche) is forced to recount the life he's lived - particularly his marriage to Martha (Gene Tierney) - if he's to stand a chance of getting through the Pearly Gates. Director Ernst Lubitsch's romantic comedy fantasy was the last classic he would make and boasts glorious Technicolour photography.
