The Whistleblower
Nebraska cop and single mum Kathryn (Rachel Weisz) finds herself the target of corrupt lawmen and bent politicians when she uncovers a sex-trafficking ring while contracted as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her determination is strengthened by the plight of two Ukrainian sex slaves, Raya (Roxana Condurache) and Irka (Rayisa Kondracki), whom she presses to testify against their local bar-owner captors - with grim consequences. Canadian debut director Larysa Kondracki's harrowingly effective thriller manages to swerve the usual stereotypes.
