Gandhi
Ben Kingsley delivers a career-defining, Oscar-winning performance in the title role of the epic biopic of the Indian leader, Mahatma Gandhi. After being evicted from the first-class compartment of a train for no reason other than his race, the young lawyer embarks on a non-violent resistance movement for the rights of Indians. His successful campaign to end British colonial rule makes him a hero, but his greatest test comes from unrest during the partition of India. Kingsley's Best Actor gong was one of the film's eight Oscar triumphs, including Best Picture.
