The Thing Called Love
In his cinematic swansong, River Phoenix plays one of four aspiring country singer-songwriters (alongside Samantha Mathis, Sandra Bullock and Dermot Mulroney) who descend on Nashville's famous Bluebird cafe for auditions. However, they find themselves getting bogged down by "that thing called love". A charming, low-key affair from Last Picture Show director Peter Bogdanovich. Trivia: Sandra Bullock co-wrote and sang the song Heaven Knocking On My Door for the film.
