The Brothers Bloom
Writer-director Rian Johnson follows his quirkily inventive debut Brick with this equally cool and distinctive tale of globe-trotting con artists. Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo are the sibling scoundrels whose dirty rotten scheme to fleece an eccentric heiress (Rachel Weisz) takes an unexpected turn when she shows a surprising gift for the grift. Aided and abetted by his eclectic cast (including Babel's Rinko Kikuchi, Robbie Coltrane and veteran villain Maximilian Schell) and revealing a sleeve-full of tricks, Johnson pulls off the ruse in some style.
