The Kid
Lock, Stock and Harry Potter actor Nick Moran directs this bruising yet inspirational drama based on the memoirs of bare-knuckle brawler turned novelist Kevin Lewis. Subjected to a childhood of horrific domestic abuse and foster homes, Kevin finds an outlet for his anger in the boxing ring. But London's criminal element is quick to take advantage of his gullibility and fighting skills. Working from Lewis's own screenplay, Moran and his fine cast - featuring Rupert Friend and an unrecognisable Natasha McElhone as his dreadful mother – take viewers through Kevin's rites of passage with no punches pulled.
