The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Sergio Leone's classic spaghetti Western set during the American Civil War. Starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach, the film was Leone's biggest-budget film at that time and, unsurprisingly, strikes many an impressive chord. Eastwood returns as the grimly taciturn man with no name but he's positively angelic compared to Van Cleef's cold, sadistic 'bad' man and the grasping, morally ugly Wallach. But while the images are memorable, nothing will outlive Ennio Morricone's terrific score. Waa-aa-aa-aa-aaaah, wah wah wah...
