Somers Town
Director Shane Meadows follows the BAFTA-winning This Is England with the small but nicely formed tale of a young runaway (England’s trainee skinhead Thomas Turgoose) who befriends a shy Polish lad (Piotr Jagiello) in London’s Kings Cross area. Shot in rich black-and-white, it sweetens the taste of inner-city hardship with a generous sprinkling of wit and whimsy.
