In this odd but compelling cross between a teen angst film and a sci-fi adventure, three young pals - Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix and Jason Presson - succeed in building a working spacecraft and set off for other worlds. During their journey, the ship is swallowed up by a giant spacescruiser whose alien occupants have been watching American TV shows for the past 30 years. A bizarre but funny idea that works.
