House of the Devil director Ti West bottles lightning once more for this gloriously fun, sweet and scary haunted house flick. On the final weekend the Yankee Pedlar hotel is open for business its two slacker employees attempt to discover if the legends of spectral presence are true. Ghost story conventions are stirred up into something more frothy by some finely played comedy, endearing characters and an infectious playfulness.
