Important changes to Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV

You may recently have received an e-mail from us telling you about some changes we're making to Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV. On the 6th July we'll be launching a new service called Sky Go which will replace our current Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV service. Sky Go will give Sky Customers access to TV from Sky on a range of devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and laptops in line with their Sky TV subscription at no extra cost.

Why is Sky Player changing to Sky Go?

At Sky we are always looking to make improvements to the service we provide to our customers. Sky Go is an exciting new service that's free for Sky TV customers and brings together Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV making it easier to get more from your Sky TV subscription.

What happens if I currently subscribe to Sky Mobile TV?

If you're a Sky TV customer with Sky Sports you'll no longer need to pay for Sky Mobile TV as you'll be able to watch Sky Sports via Sky Go for free. All you need to do is download the free Sky Go App from the 6th July and follow the in-app instructions.

The £5 a month Sky Mobile TV subscription will close just before Sky Go launches and will no longer be available. If you're not a Sky TV customer or you're a Sky TV customer without Sky Sports, you'll still be able to subscribe to Sky Mobile TV for £7.99 a month on your iPhone of £34.99 on your iPad via the iTunes App Store.

What operating system do I need for Sky Go on my iPhone, iPad or iPod touch?

To enjoy Sky Go you'll need an iOS 4.0 operating system on your device. You can find out more about the technical specifications of your device in your manufacturer's handbook or by contacting Apple. Unfortunately Sky Go is not supported on the 1st generation iPod touch.

What does this mean for existing Sky Player users?

Sky Player will become Sky Go on the 6th July. The first time you use Sky Go you will be asked to accept a new set of terms and conditions. Once you've accepted, you'll be able to access Sky Go and watch up to 30 live channels in line with your Sky TV subscription on your laptop, PC or Mac.

What's more, if you're a Sky Sports customer you'll be able to watch all 5 Sky Sports channels on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. With Sky Go you can register up to two devices and watch on both at the same time.

How many devices will I be able to use with Sky Go?

With Sky Go you'll be able to register up to two devices and watch on both at the same time. Your registered devices can be a combination of any two of the following: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or laptop. You'll be able to manage your registered devices by going to the settings section in Sky Go.

What do I need to watch Sky Sports on Sky Go?

To watch Sky Sports via Sky Go you'll need to subscribe to Sky Sports as part of your Sky TV subscription.

Why is Sky Player on Windows Media Center closing?

Sky Go is available on a range of devices including iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, laptop or PC or Mac. Windows Media Center is no longer included however you can still watch via your laptop or PC.

Can I watch TV from Sky on my Xbox 360?

Yes. Sky TV customers with an Xbox LIVE Gold membership can use their Xbox 360 to watch TV from Sky, in line with their subscription, as part of the two devices they can register for Sky Go.

What changes will Xbox 360 users see when they log in after the 6th?

Users will need to accept a new set of terms and conditions but otherwise there are no changes to the Sky TV experience on Xbox 360.

What will Xbox 360 users be able to watch?

We?re making it even easier for Sky TV customers to watch great TV on their Xbox 360. Sky TV customers with an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will be able to watch live and on demand programmes in line with their subscription at no extra charge to their Sky TV subscription.

Can I watch TV from Sky on my Fetch Set Top Box?

Yes. Sky TV customers can use their Fetch Set Top Box to watch TV from Sky, in line with their subscription, as part of the two devices they can register for Sky Go.

Will Sky Go be added to other devices in the future?

Although initially Sky Go will only be available on Apple's portable devices we're working hard to create a version of the Sky Go App for Android devices and expect to be releasing it later this year. Keep checking the Sky Go homepage for updates.

Why are there new terms and conditions?

Sky Go is a brand new service and therefore requires new terms and conditions which customers need to agree to upon sign in.

What happens if I currently subscribe to Sky Player Multiroom?

Great news, you'll no longer need to subscribe to Sky Player Multiroom as you'll be able to view live channels in line with your Sky TV subscription with Sky Go for free. Until then you can continue to enjoy the benefits of Sky Player Multiroom as normal and we won't be taking any further payments.

What can I watch on Sky Go?

Sky Go gives Sky Sports 1&2 customers access to all 5 Sky Sports channels on the go for free as part of their Sky TV subscription on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, laptop, PC or Mac.

In addition, you'll also be able to watch a range of Movie and Entertainment channels in line with your Sky TV subscription on your laptop, PC or Mac.

We'll be adding more channels to the new devices in the future so stay tuned for updates.

How do I get Sky Go?

To watch TV from Sky online on your laptop or PC, simply visit the Sky Go homepage on the 6th July and sign in with your Sky ID username and password.

To start watching on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch all you need to do is download the free Sky Go App from the iTunes App Store and sign in with your Sky ID.

From 6th July when you log in for the 1st time you'll be asked to agree to a new set of terms and conditions then you can start enjoying great TV from Sky on the go.

What's happening to Pre-Pay Wallet?

On July 1st 2011 we will be closing the SkyPlayer Pre-Pay Wallet facility.

You can still use any money in your Pre-Pay Wallet until the closing date.

You may continue to purchase on demand content using a registered credit/debit card.
